Easter treats that are free from colouring, flavouring and preservatives

So I thought the school holidays was a great time to get back to food basics and look at how we can help WeeBeastieBoy with his hyperactivity.

But what about Easter???

I know you can get special ‘free of everything’ chocolate eggs but I wanted to try something we could make together.

So after reading Sue Dengate’s info on http://www.fedup.com.au and looking at the ‘what we can eat’ section in the failsafe booklet http://fedup.com.au/images/stories/Failsafebooklet2011.pdf

I discovered that Arnott’s Milk Arrowroot was a good start. And they are sort of egg shaped!

We decorated them with plain water icing and then dabbled with a dribble of beetroot juice to get different colour pinks.

We even took them to a party and no one tasted the beetroot….and they all disappeared in a flash!

I wonder what other vegetables you could use for colouring icing? Carrots maybe?
