Fine motor tearing to make pictures

Young children can get great satisfaction from tearing paper. It can be a fine motor activity with flimsy paper or a gross motor with thick paper or layers of paper.

Put out lots of paper for the children to tear into strips. This soft paper tears easily and there wont be any paper cuts that you might get from paper like printer paper or shiny!

It can be inspiring to put out paper colours that work together such as purples, blues and greens to represent the ocean.

You can make a card using the torn paper strips for the background with a simple shape to cut out.

I love this idea to use some pencil shavings to decorate the fish.

I love this idea!

An this one!
