We have had a bit of rain in sunny Brisbane recently and these beauties have been popping up all over the place. Natures very own provocation scattered about for us to discover. (We found the selection in the top middle picture at the grocers on special.)
The Plants-That-Never-Ever-Bloom book is out again. Love these amazing pictures! I made a matching lifecycle activity from the pictures on the end pages of the book.
Of course we had to have a parts of the mushroom book from Montessori Print Shop
to go with it. So many beautiful language activities and of course cooking opportunities!
I loved this hands free mushroom risotto in a slow cooker from bakerette
Here is my brother-in-law’s mushroom pasta recipe;
Finely chop onion and fry in olive oil till translucent (usually about 6 mins)
Add mushrooms and continue cooking till soft.
Add 1 clove chopped garlic
Add 1/2 teaspoon of mixed herbs or chopped fresh herbs
Add 1 teaspoon tomato puree (optional)
Add a splash of sherry (optional)
You can add some frozen peas too (optional)
Chop smoked salmon, add and warm through.
Finish with some cream
Stir through the pasta.
As you can see he just make it up as he goes along but the above should hopefully give you something resembling it.
Love your life cycle sequence, Lucy. Such interesting plants to learn about. Meg:)
